Memorial day weekend off to a strong start at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WAVY) — The unofficial start to summer began with big crowds on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

The City of Virginia Beach’s tourism industry is $1.4 Billion annually, according to the Virginia Beach Visitors Bureau.

“One of our busiest weekends of the year,” Skip Feller, Captain with Rudee Tours, said. “We start our full schedule this weekend so we will have five (dolphin) trips on the Rudee Flipper boat and four trips on the Rudee Rocket boat every day.”

Feller said a good Memorial Day weekend can get the summer season off to the right start for business owners.
