VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — If you’re a parent, or a student in middle school, high school or college, you’ll want to keep reading.

On Saturday, October 13, the foundation Scholarship Sharing is hosting its sixth annual Scholarship and College Fair at Virginia Wesleyan University.

The event is free and open to students of all ages, including home-schoolers, high schoolers 9-12, current college undergraduates, and graduates, as well as adult learners interested in enrolling in college.

According to the founder, Lorraine Santalucia, there will be numerous scholarship organizations that students can meet during the event and apply on-site. Several scholarships have been sponsored by local community groups which are only available to students who attend the fair.

Additionally, presentations from speakers will teach families about ways to win scholarships and apply for federal aid, institutional aid, and military aid programs. Santalucia says a professional photographer will be on-site giving free headshots for students to add to their portfolio. Students should dress to impress and be ready to smile for the camera.

During the Scholarship & College Fair students and their families will network to learn about college funding options such as scholarships, fellowships, and grant programs from local and national nonprofit foundation representatives. In-state and out of state colleges will also be exhibiting tables with information on their institutional scholarship and financial aid programs. Several colleges will also be waiving admissions fees and providing on-site applications for enrollment & awarding scholarships to their schools.

Presentations on finding and applying to scholarships and federal aid will be conducted by financial aid specialists.

Students can pre-register to avoid lines at the entrance through the Scholarship Sharing website:

Tickets will also be available at the door, but pre-registration is highly encouraged.

The event is located at 1584 Wesleyan Drive, Virginia Beach.
