ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police troopers are currently on the scene of a fatal crash in Isle of Wight Monday afternoon.

According to state police, the call for the two-vehicle crash came in around 3:15 p.m. on Brewers Neck Boulevard and Bartlett Circle.

According to police, the driver of a 2022 International commercial box truck, 49-year-old Richmond resident Rodney L. Jones, stopped on Route 32, with the emergency flashers illuminated, to make a home delivery. 

The driver of a 2022 moped, 62-year-old Windsor resident James Edward Bailey, was traveling southbound on Route 32, did not see the box truck stopped,  and drove into the rear of the truck. Bailey died upon impact from injuries sustained from the crash.

Jones has been charged with improper stopping in the roadway.
