SMITHFIELD, Va (WAVY) – Rescuers responded to a drowning in Smithfield Sunday night.
According to a spokesperson, Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Isle of Wight Department of Emergency Services were sent to the 300 block of Grandville Arch Sunday.
They were responding to a call about a drowning at approximately 7 p.m.
As soon as they found the victim, the patient was airlifted by Sentara’s Nightingale Air Ambulance to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
The incident is being investigated and the patient’s condition is still unknown.
