Police seek suspect after man injured in shooting on W Mercury Boulevard in Hampton


HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police said a 21-year-old man was injured in a shooting Wednesday night.

Dispatchers said the incident happened around 5:20 p.m. in the 100 block of West Mercury Boulevard.

Police said the man’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police released an update Wednesday night asking for help identifying the suspect in connection with the shooting. Police did not release a suspect description.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim and suspect exchanged gunfire following a verbal exchange.

The motive and circumstances are still under investigation.
