Man airlifted to hospital after vehicle fire in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton officials say one person was transported to the hospital after a vehicle caught on fire Thursday morning.

Hampton Dispatch said the call came in just before 7 a.m. for a vehicle fire at the intersection of West Mercury Boulevard and Riverdale Drive.

Hampton Fire officials said a man was burned and was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

There is no word on the extent of the person’s injuries.
