Man strikes another vehicle while attempting to evade police in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police say one man and a girl were sent to a local hospital following a vehicle pursuit that led to a crash in Hampton Saturday afternoon.

According to police dispatch, the call for the two-vehicle crash came in at 5:50 p.m. Saturday on Power Plant Parkway.

Initial investigations revealed that patroling officers saw a vehicle with several violations and attempted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Powerplant Parkway.

Police say the suspect, a still-unidentified 49-year-old man, drove away prompting a short vehicle pursuit.

The suspect lost control of his vehicle and struck another vehicle carrying an 18-year-old girl.

Both the suspect and the victim were sent to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police say charges are still pending. Power Plant Parkway will be closed between Briarfield Road and Queen Street, in both directions
