Officials: Dog dead, family of 5 displaced in Hampton house fire

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — One dog died and a family of five was displaced after a house in Hampton caught fire on Friday.

Hampton’s Division of Fire & Rescue said in a tweet crews were dispacted to a house in the 30 block of Sanlun Lakes Drive — off Saunders Road — just after 11:30 a.m.

The family — two adults and three children — are being assisted by the Red Cross. The homeowner was treated on scene for a minor injury, the tweet said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
