HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Police are conducting a death investigation after a man died following a shooting Thursday afternoon in Hampton.
According to the Hampton Police Department, the call for the shooting came in around 12:48 p.m. in the 300 block of Wakefield Ave.
Sergeant Ashley Jenrette spoke with 10 On Your Side’s Andy Fox on scene and said when officers arrived they found a man inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he later died.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Williamsburg resident Jehlanie Brown.
Hampton Police said the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
