Man convicted of manslaughter in retrial for 2013 homicide gets 1 year


HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A Hampton man will spend a year and a half in prison for voluntary manslaughter.

John O’Neal IV was convicted in March for the shooting death of 40-year-old John Brown in 2013.

O’Neal was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the charge was downgraded during the trial. He was found not guilty of a gun charge.
