Hampton Police say old, military ordnance causes explosion on Wythe Creek Road


HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — An old, military ordnance is to blame for an explosion on Wythe Creek Road Saturday evening.

Hampton Police say they were notified about the explosion just before 6 p.m. The site is near Winder Farm Lane.

Police believe the blast was a result of the ordnance becoming unstable.

No one was injured as a result of the explosion.
