Bomb threats lead to evacuations at Hampton’s courthouses


HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton’s courthouses were evacuated after bomb threats were called on Tuesday morning.

Police say the first call came in at 7:03 a.m. The initial bomb threat was for the Juvenile Domestic Relations Court in the 200 block of North King Street. Preliminary investigations revealed that a person called authorities and reported a bomb threat for the court building.

Officers responded to the scene and residents along with courthouse employees from the General District Courthouse, the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courthouse, and Circuit Courthouse were evacuated.

The second threat came in just after 11 a.m.

After a sweep of the courthouse was complete, authorities reported finding no suspicious devices.

Normal operations resumed just before 1 p.m.

There are no other details at this time. The incidents are still under investigation.
