Firefighters respond to house fire in York County

YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighers responded to a residential fire early Thursday morning. 

York County Department of Fire and Safety officials say they responded to the fire around 3:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of Mooretown Road. 

Upon arrival, crews found a light haze of smoke on the exterior and found fire inside the home when making entry. The fire was out a short time later. The home suffered moderate damage. 

One occupant was home at the time of the fire and had exited the home prior to crew arrival. No injuries were reported. 

It was later determined that the fire started in the rear portion of the structure near electrial equipment.
