Police: Pizza delivery driver shot, killed in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- A pizza delivery driver was shot and killed Thursday night in Chesapeake, a police spokesperson confirms.

The Chesapeake Police Department said it responded to the Marina Point Apartments around 9:45 p.m. for a shots fired call and found someone who had been fatally shot inside a vehicle.

The person killed was a female pizza delivery driver, police said. She was later identified as 30-year-old Stephanie Brainerd of Virginia Beach.

Shortly after, officers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving, which led to a short pursuit that ended in Portsmouth near Maryview Hospital.

Police said it's unclear if the two incidents are related this time, but detectives are currently investigating.

No additional details were provided in a police press release, but anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
