CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A robbery attempt turned violent Wednesday afternoon when the 15-year-old victim told the suspect he didn’t have anything to give him. 

Chesapeake police say the teen was shot in the foot by the suspect around 4 p.m. in the 900 block of Paramount Avenue. 

When police responded to the victim in the 1200 block of Military Highway, he told them the suspect asked him to “run his pockets.” When the teen told the suspect he had nothing to give him, the suspect shot him in the foot and ran east. 

The suspect is in his twenties and wore a black shirt and cargo pants, according to police. 

The victim’s injuries are considered non life-threatening and he was taken to Norfolk General Hospital. 

Police say the incident is still under investigation and more information will be released when its available.
