ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — Leaders in Isle of Wight County will meet once again to talk about details for a proposed juvenile correction center.
Last month, the board of supervisors voted to transfer 20 acres of farmland for the facility just outside of Windsor. While some say the proposed center will benefit the county with new jobs, many residents and groups have opposed the idea.
Now, the state and county are negotiating potential terms of the project. The Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors are slated to discuss those terms in a meeting at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
The meeting agenda says they will talk about the number of beds in the facility and what it would look like.
10 On Your Side’s Brett Hall will be at the hearing. Look for updates later tonight.
