Large tree topples onto Gloucester home

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) – A massive tree toppled onto a home in Gloucester Point as severe weather tore through Hampton Roads in the early morning hours Monday.

Peggy Saucier, who lives at the home, says the storm started to hit around 3:30 a.m. She told 10 On Your Side she knew something had come through the house, but didn’t realize at first that it was the tree.

“We heard the storm coming through, so we went into the garage and waited because there’s only one window there, and we heard it, but we didn’t know a tree had come through. We had trouble getting out,“ said Saucier.

Video from the scene shows the tree smashed through the center of the home, right through the roof.

WAVY News 10’s Andy Fox is at the home now and will have more on the homeowner’s frightening morning. Watch our complete team coverage of the damage the storm did to this home and many others, beginning at 4 p.m.
