Environmental cleanup animal parts Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Cleanup crews had to shut down two lanes of Godwin Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon after a truck spilled “animal renderings” on the road.

Suffolk officials say the open-top truck, which belongs to Valley Proteins, Inc., braked for a vehicle that was in front of the truck, causing the animal parts to come out.

Officials say the hazmat incident poses no danger to the public.

Valley Proteins crews were cleaning up the spill at the intersection of Centerbrooke Lane as of 6 p.m.
