NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Lake Taylor High School was placed on lockdown for three hours on Thursday as a precaution on Wednesday.
Norfolk police said they were informed staff placed the school on lockdown because a student had been overheard discussing “clips.”
Officers responded to the school to question the student.
The school sent a message to parents and guardians of students, which said the school was on “an instructional soft lockdown” during that three-hour time frame.
We activated our security procedures and worked closely with the Norfolk Police Department to ensure our safety. Student reported to their 5th block class at 12:05 and we began our lunches at 12:20.
The incident remains under investigation. The safety of children and staff are our highest priority. We are thankful for the swift response and support of our staff, security personnel and local law enforcement. We are all also proud of our students for their commendable behavior throughout the day.
