Lake Taylor girls roll to Class 4 state title game with 65-60 win over Deep Creek


PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Lake Taylor girls basketball team defeated Deep Creek 65-50 on Tuesday to seal their spot in the Class 4 state championship game. 

In a 757 showdown, the Lady Hornets would give Lake Taylor a fight as Kiara Shepherd dropped in 17 points, but it wasn’t enough.

Chaniqua Gilliam had a game-high for Lake Taylor 21 points, while Jordan Poole added 13.

Lake Taylor will look for their third state title under Coach Saundra Sawyer as they will head to Richmond to play Pulaski County on Thursday at VCU’s Siegel Center at 6 p.m
