PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) dropped in to a Portsmouth sports bar on his latest campaign stop. He met and greeted fellow Democrats at Roger Brown’s on Monday evening on High Street.
Kaine talked with a gathering of about 75 people about jobs, education and health care. But the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend as a justice on the Supreme Court is still fresh on his mind.
“The main disappointment was the message it sent to people who have gone through sexual assaults, that the Senate didn’t take them seriously.”
Kaine is urging Democrats to make a difference by getting out in voting on election day.
Real Clear Politics shows Kaine with an 18-point lead over challenger Corey Stewart over an average of four polls in the past several months, although the most recent was four weeks ago.
