VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A juvenile was seriously hurt after police say he was riding a bicycle and was hit by a truck in Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach police said the juvenile was going east on Brenneman Trail, when he crossed over South Plaza Trail against a red light. A 1999 Ford F-150 going north on South Plaza collided with a bicyclist.
Officers were called to the scene just after 1 p.m.
Police spokesperson Tonya Pierce said Tuesday the juvenile was unresponsive, but breathing following the collision. He was flown to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters via Nightingale with life-threatening injuries.
Police said he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
