PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Are you or someone you love suffering in silence?
At 10 On Your Side, we believe we can all help break the cycle of domestic violence. On average, domestic violence victims go back to their abusers seven times.
And here in Hampton Roads we have a higher risk of domestic violence compared to the state and nation.
Kristen Pine with YWCA of South Hampton Roads said, “In these types of relationships, you see the protective orders, you see the cycle and it is just really dififcult and Unfortunately sometimes victims don’t see the escalating behavior until it is too late.”
So, who is protecting the victims? And what resources are out there?
We also look at the issues in the justice system through the eyes of a woman who lost her sister at the hands of an abuser.
