CHESAPEAKE (WAVY) – Indian River High School has always had the talent, and has always been a tough outting for any team in the area. The Braves, 8-4 a season ago, are out to prove 2018 is their year.
“We have talent every year, but something about this year seems like we’re going to get there,” said senior defensive tackle Ben Smiley III.
Smiley, who has offers from around 35 Division I programs, is just one part of a very talented roster.
The offense will be led by quarterback Dominique Brooks, the same Brooks who helped lead rival Oscar Smith all the way to its third straight Class 6 championship game.
“He has a real live arm,” said Inidan River head man Glenwood Ferebee.
“He’s going to bring another dimension to our football team that we didn’t have last year, with the athletes we have. So, we can spread the ball around, throw it around and have some fund with the guys.”
