VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Three people and three pets were displaced early Wednesday morning after officials say a fire damaged a Virginia Beach house.

A news release from the Virginia Beach Fire Department said crews were called out to Eaglewood Drive — between Oceana Boulevard and Dam Neck Road — at 4:30 a.m.

Responding units found heavy smoke and fire near the chimney area of the house.

Everyone inside the home was alerted by a smoke alarm and made it out safely, officials said. One adult, two teenagers, two dogs and a rabbit were displaced.

No one was injured.

Officials said a house nextdoor sustained heat damage from the fire.

The fire was believed to be accidental, but officials said the cause was still being investigated.
