Homicide on C Avenue in Norfolk alarms neighbors

Police have identified the victim in Wednesday’s homicide on C Avenue in Norfolk as 52-year-old William James White, Jr.

Norfolk police said officers were dispatched to C Avenue, off Church Street, around 9:35 a.m. A man was found shot outside of a home on the street, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

WAVY’s Brett Hall reports a neighbor said she heard several gunshots around that time.

“I heard 4 [gunshots],” said Thalia Hinds.. “I jumped up and came right out of my room to the door. I didn’t see anybody running or nothing, there was not a soul on the street.”

Daniel Sanderson has lived along C Ave. for nearly 20 years and said he had seen three people living in the house recently. 
 
“Talked to [one of the men] a bunch of times,” Sanderson said. “He would come bum cigarettes off me.”
 
Everyone 10 On Your Side spoke with said the events certainly have shaken up the neighborhood.

“I don’t want this to continue going, cause I fear for myself,” Hinds said.
