SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 16-year-old high school student was arrested Monday after the teen allegedly held another student against her will and committed sexual battery earlier this month, police say.

Suffolk Police said the alleged incident happened at Lakeland High School on April 5.

Police said a preliminary investigation found the teen restrained a female student in a way that made it hard for her to breathe, and made inappropriate sexual contact.

Police said the two students know each other and the incident was reported to the school’s administration.

The teen has been charged with abduction and kidnapping, sexual battery and strangulation of another causing wounding or injury, police said.

10 On Your Side is working to learn what disciplinary action was taken by the school, if any.
