Virginia Nov. 24 COVID-19 update: Metrics steady overall ahead of Thanksgiving

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia COVID-19 metrics are holding steady overall a day ahead of Thanksgiving.

About 1,500 new cases are being reported per day, that’s up about 30% from two weeks ago but not a major overall increase.

Current hospitalizations remain around 850 patients.

State metrics

  • New cases (+1,097, 960,691 total), 1,555 per day and rising slightly
  • Deaths (+24, 14,597 total), 22 per day and still going down overall
  • Current hospitalizations (+4 patients, 863 total currently), steady overall
  • Test positivity: 5.9%, rising slightly
  • Vaccine doses administered: 12,529,162
  • Percent of population with at least one dose: 73.8% (6,299,158)
  • Percent of adults (18+) with at least one dose: 87.5%
  • Percent of population fully vaccinated: 64.5% (5,508,146)
  • Percent of adults fully vaccinated: 76.7%
  • People vaccinated with booster/third dose: 1,142,516
