Hampton Roads Vet Fest raises awareness for veteran suicide, motorcycle deaths

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Roads Vet Fest was held in Portsmouth on Saturday to raise awareness for veteran suicide and motorcycle rider deaths.

End 22 along with HRBE Memorial Ride Car and Bike Show hosted the event.

It honors the 22 veterans who take their own lives each day, as well as the bikers lost in 2017. The memorial bike ride started in Norfolk and ended in Portsmouth.

Organizers say events like this are critical to helping these causes.

“What this does, is it raises money so we are able to give the veteran and active duty service member treatment that aren’t covered by the VA or active duty medical facilities,” said Chico Ciccone with End 22.

All the money raised went to End 22 and their mission to bring awareness to veteran suicide.
