Hampton Roads to participate in annual National Night Out event

National Night Out is an evening designed to promote partnerships between first responders and the communities they serve. Communities across Hampton Roads will be participating in this nationwide event taking place on August 7. Check out how your city will be participating in National Night Out below. 2018 will mark 35 years of National Night Out in the United States.

Tuesday, August 7
Deep Creek Ruritan Club night out 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the soccer fields in the 100 block of George Washington Highway.
South Norfolk Historic Area Block Party 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at Lakeside Park.
There will also be various neighborhood events across the city. Check with your local community to see how they will be participating.
City officials will be visiting different locations and escorting McGruff around to meet the community.

Tuesday, August 7
Hampton Roads Convention Center – 4 p.m.- 7 p.m.
First responders will be out enjoying the night with the community as they take part in family friendly entertainment and activities. The event will feature over 20 local businesses and a firetruck slide, plus much more! Hampton National Night Out will also be hosting a blood drive during the event, you can sign up at this link with code NNOHampton.

Head out and meet your local first responders for an evening filled with fun, food, and community.

Portsmouth PD says to check with your Civic League, your local public library, or call the police department at (757) 393-5300 to find the National Night Out Event for your neighborhood.

Join your neighbors and first responders at this free event. Enjoy food, games, face painting, and hands on demonstrations. You will also have the opportunity to get a child ID card at the event.
