HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police responded to a shots fired call at the Hooters restaurant on W. Mercury Boulevard on Saturday.

Hampton disptachers say it happened around 9:20 p.m.

Deandre Jamal Campbell, 23, of Newport News was arrested and charged with assault and battery, attempted larceny from person, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Officials orginally thought that Campbell was shot, but medics determined the injury was not from a bullet.
