Hampton man shot while waiting at a bus stop

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot while standing at a bus stop on Michigan Drive Friday afternoon. 

Hampton police say the incident happened around 1:40 p.m. in the 200 block of the road. When officers arrived to the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but police say his injuries are not considered life-threatening. The victim told police he was standing at the bus stop when an unknown suspect began firing multiple rounds in the area. 

Police say it is unclear if the victim was the target of the gunshots. They are still working to figure out the motive and other details about the shooting.

Hampton police are also investigating a homicide that was originally believed to have happened in Newport News early Friday morning.
