Hampton Girl Scouts put together care packages on Veterans Day

News

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — On Veterans Day a group of Girl Scouts decided to pay it forward by assembling care packages for Hampton Roads service members currently deployed.

Members of Girl Scout Troop 1041 assembled 39 care packages the night of Veterans Day. They will be sent to members of the Langley Air Force based 633rd Medical Group, currently stationed across the globe.

“We do have so many families that are either active duty or veterans,” said Vicki O’Neill, the troop leader. “It’s important to appreciate everything that they do for us. We want to instill those values in every single one of our Girl Scouts.”

When the Vogel sisters, Skylar and Kylee, assembled their box, they were thinking of their very own American hero.

“My hero was my dad,” Skylar said. “He helps our country.”

Each box contains snacks and a note signed by one of the scouts.
