RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Residents of a mobile home development were forced out of their homes by flash flooding.

“It was hard, my little niece was terrified,” resident Vanessa Smith said. “I had to carry my son and my youngest niece. The water, it was up to my knees.”

A GRTC bus responded to the development on McDonough Street to serve as a temporary shelter.

The neighborhood is in a low-lying area that floods regularly, residents tell 8News.
