SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A girl who had her arm caught in a pool’s vacuum connection port was rescued after being stuck for about an hour Wednesday afternoon.

Suffolk officials say the girl was swimming in a pool in the King’s Fork Farms neighborhood and was supervised at the time.

The port was in a four-feet deep area of the pool, and rescue personnel had to hold her up to keep her head above water. Her arm was stuck to just above the elbow, officials say.

Power was secured to the port, but her arm wasn’t able to be freed.

After about an hour, the rescue team was able to break the concrete around the pipe and free her arm.

Officials say the child received injuries believed to be minor, and she was taken to Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters for evaluation.
