CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — All lanes on the Gilmerton Bridge in Chesapeake reopened Friday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., hours after the entire span was closed to traffic.

In a tweet Friday afternoon around noon, Chesapeake officials said the traffic gate arm became stuck, blocking traffic in the process.

Drivers were advised to use the I-64 High Rise Bridge or the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge as alternative routes while crews worked to fix the problem.
