NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk resident is hoping to give back to his community by providing health resources through a free bootcamp.
Lavonne Pledger is the owner of Embodiment Fitness.
He lives in the St.Paul’s Area and says many of his neighbors don’t get the opportunity to focus their efforts on health.
On Saturday, he’s hosting a free fitness bootcamp at Shoop Park.
He’s encouraging those from the three public housing communities nearby to come out.
Pledger believes his community doesn’t get the same health and fitness opportunities because of financial restraints.
He hopes Saturday’s bootcamp can change that.
“A lot of things we feel like we can’t control in life but the one thing we can do is something for our bodies and maintain a healthy lifestyle and changing that positive behavior for the good helps you build the best version of yourself,” Pledger said.
The bootcamp starts at 9 a.m. All citizens are welcome to come out including kids.
