Former VB officer charged with forcible sodomy denied bond

News

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A former Virginia Beach police officer accused of sexually assaulting a minor has been denied bond, WAVY’s Andy Fox reports.

Mark David Johnson

Virginia Beach police arrested 48-year-old Mark David Johnson Wednesday on a charge of forcible sodomy of a minor. Johnson, who was with the department for two decades before 2017, was arraigned on the charge Thursday.

Police said the alleged incident happened between August 2015 and August 2016. It’s unclear why Johnson left the department, but he moved to Minnesota.

A neighbor who spoke to 10 On Your Side described Johnson as being “mean” and not friendly. “He yelled at me about my dog … he said my dog was trespassing. My dog was on his property,” the neighbor said.

Andy Fox will have more coverage of Friday’s hearing tonight on WAVY News 10.
