Fog leads to school delays, advisory on JRB

Tower Cam Fog

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Dense fog that covered parts of the region Thursday morning led to school delays and a brief travel advisory on a connecting bridge.

Multiple school districts were operating on a two-hour delay Thursday: Accomack County, Hertford County and Perquimans County. Other districts decided to open one hour late: Edenton-Chowan and Gates County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation issued a brief fog advisory for the James River Bridge during the morning commute. No lanes were closed, and VDOT cleared the advisory after less than an hour.

WAVY’s Jen Lewis reported there were multiple openings at the JRB Thursday morning.
