Five displaced after early morning fire in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters in Suffolk responded to an overnight house fire that displaced five people early Tuesday. 

Officials were notified at 1:30 a.m. for the fire in the 2500 block of Cedar Lake Drive. Crews arrived on scene ten minutes later and found heavy smoke coming from a one story home. The fire was found in the rear of the home. 

The fire was contained to the room of origin and was later marked under control at 2:27 a.m.

Three adults and two children will be receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. 

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
