First Colonial girls soccer, Tabb softball take home state titles

RICHMOND (WAVY) – The Tabb High School softball team capped the perfect season, beating Cave Spring 9-2 for the Class 3 state championship on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, the First Colonial girls soccer team brought home state title hardware, after defeating James Madison 2-1 for the Class 6 state championship. Both First Colonial and Tabb earned their first state championships, in their respective sport, in school history. 

In other action, Western Branch fell one game shy of back-to-back Class 6 titles, losing to West Springfield 12-2 in the championship game. The Jamestown baseball team fell in the Class 4 state title game to Salem (Salem) 2-1 on a walk-off RBI in the seventh and final inning. 

Blacksburg beat the Grafton boys soccer team 6-0 for the Class 4 state championship.
