NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A house caught fire in northern part of Newport News Saturday night.
Newport News fire officials say the emergency call for the fire came in just before 10 p.m. for a home in 100 block of Rexford Drive.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found a two-story home engulfed in flames. They say there wasn’t anyone in the home at the time of the fire.
Neighbors to the home told firefighters they heard a loud noise coming from the direction of the location of the fire just before they saw the flames.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause. Crews planned to stay on scene throughout the night to monitor hot spots until they find the cause.
