Firefighters respond to balcony fire in Norfolk

Norfolk Apartment Balcony Fire

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters responded to a fire on a balcony in the Ghent area of Norfolk Thursday afternoon.

The fire was at an apartment building in the 600 block of W. Princess Anne Road. Norfolk Fire-Rescue said someone down the street saw the fire and called them.

Images posted to Twitter showed the side of a third floor balcony was burned in the fire.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control from outside and contained the damage to the balcony.

It is unclear how the fire may have started.

Crews closed Princess Anne Road to all traffic between Blow and Manteo streets while they worked.
