SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A detached shed at a Suffolk home was destroyed late Tuesday morning after authorities say it was engulfed in flames.
Suffolk officials say firefighters were called to Colonial Drive — in the Nansemond Shores neighborhood — around 11:10 a.m.
Flames from the fire were threatening the home when firefighters arrived on scene.
Officials say the shed had a vehicle as well as acetylene tank. Explosions were reportedly heard.
The home’s vinyl siding sustained thermal damage due to the intensity of the flames.
Two men were treated on scene for minor injuries after officials they tried to extinguish the flames before firefighters arrived. A firefighter also suffered a minor injury while battling the flames.
Firefighters got the fire under control around 11:45 a.m. The shed and everything inside were deemed a total loss.
No one was displaced.
Officials say the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
