Family of missing Middlesex man asking the public for help

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A 61-year-old Middlesex County man, Randolph Carter, who goes by Reggie, has disappeared.

10 On Your Side spoke with his sister via FaceTime, who said she last saw him on May 20 going to church.

When his son couldn’t get in touch with him to do lawn care jobs that week, the family knew something was wrong.

“So my sister went over to the house to look for him and all the cars were there — he has a car and two trucks. The keys were in them, the cell phone was there, empty wallets were there, but no Reggie,” said Reggie’s sister Safonya Martin.

A missing persons report was filed last Thursday.

And since then the family has been calling hospitals and doing searches around town to try and find him.

“We had a meeting this morning at the Urbanna Market and we wanted to hand out some flyers and divide the tasks between family members so we can each search a different location,” Martin said.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office posted about Reggie on their Facebook page. And while they say they don’t suspect foul play, they did meet up with the family at the Urbanna market Tuesday.

“They wanted to let the family know that they were wanted to work together as a team to find my brother,” said Martin.

Deputies also say they were out this afternoon interviewing people in town to try and learn Reggie’s last whereabouts.

His family says they will be out searching again Wednesday.
