Family of four displaced in Suffolk house fire

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A family of four is getting help from the Red Cross after their Suffolk home caught fire late Tuesday night.

City of Suffolk officials said firefighters were alerted to a fire at a single-story house on Holland Road just before 8:45 p.m.

Firefighters were able to contain it to the bathroom, but the house suffered smoke damage. The family — two adults and two children — was displaced as a result.

Crews had the fire under control around 9 p.m.

This was one of two fires Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to Tuesday night. A two-alarm house fire in the northern part of the city displaced two adults.

Investigators are working to determined what caused both fires.
