YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — A massage therapist at Victoria’s Day Spa has resigned from his position after a customer accused him of sexual assault during a rub down session, according to court documents.

Dwayne Pittman, 59, is charged with sexual battery in connection with the incident on June 30.

Pittman was served a warrant at his Virginia Beach home on July 25. The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office says a mug shot is not available because he was never taken to jail for the misdemeanor charge.

According to court records, the victim said the massage started off fine but “towards the end of the session Dwayne took his hand past the underwear” and continued to inappropriately touch the victim.

Investigators say Pittman denied the woman’s claim.

10 On Your Side attempted to get Pittman’s side of the story two times on Wednesday, but nobody answered the door at his home.

Terri Benson, manager at Victoria’s Day Spa, found the victim crying over the incident, according to a criminal complaint.

“Our first concern is always for the safety of our clients,” said Benson. “As soon as these allegations were made, we were completely shocked and [Pittman] was relieved of his duties immediately.”

Benson says Pittman worked at the spa for about three months and they only received positive comments about his performance.

Pittman will be arraigned in York County on Aug. 21.
