PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A former Portsmouth police officer has been acquitted of a felony perjury charge in connection to a botched 2015 drug bust, according to Portsmouth Commonwealth’s Attorney Brandon Wrobleski.

Mark Anthony Deluca Jr. originally faced five charges in relation to the sting operation, nicknamed “Operation Feel Good” — forgery, uttering a forged public record and three counts of perjury.

The other charges were previously dismissed.

Judge William H. Shaw III ruled that prosecutors failed to provide evidence that Deluca was lying under oath about seeing drugs in a suspect’s hand during the unsanctioned operation, which was never approved by Deluca’s supervisors.
