RALEIGH, N.C. (WAVY) — Early voting began Wednesday in North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District.

The primary election itself is scheduled to be held April 30.

A total of 26 people will be on the ballot — including 17 Republicans, six Democrats, two Libertarians and one candidate from the Constitution Party.

The special election winner will succeed longtime U.S. Rep. Walter B. Jones, who passed away in February at the age of 76.
