Early morning fire at motorcycle shop in Yorktown


YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — York County Department of Fire and Life Safety extinguished an early morning fire at a motorcycle shop Monday.

Fire Chief Steve Kopczynski said an automatic alarm at Redline Performance Motorsports located at 7331 George Washington Memorial Hwy alerted crews to the fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and heat conditions. An immediate search of the building led the crews to find the fire in a work bay area.

Kopczynski said the fire was under control at about 4:30 a.m.

A preliminary overview indicates the fire was contained to the work bay area but that there is smoke conditions throughout the building.

York County Department of Fire and Life Safety was assisted by fire crews from Newport News, Poquoson and Fort Eustis.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
